Trout Mountain Forestry: Projects
Each of the following links will give you a few examples of the kinds of projects we've been involved in:
Family Forests
Every year, we manage numerous timber harvests for families and individual owners, projects ranging from 5 acres to more than 1,000 acres. These are the bread and butter of our business. In 2006, we conducted 16 individual harvests, sustainably producing more than 3 million board feet of sawlogs. We greatly value our ongoing working relationships with this diverse group of landowners, all of whom share a common stewardship vision. Family Forest Projects
Community Forests
We assist communities throughout western Oregon – from municipal parks departments to religious groups and landowner associations – with a wide variety of projects to establish, plan, restore, and manage their highly visible and publicly valued forests. Community Forest Projects
Municipal Watersheds
We have developed stewardship plans for municipal watersheds in a number of Oregon communities. Where maintaining pristine water quality is the primary goal, conservative forest plans and sensitive practices are critical. Municipal Watershed Projects
Forest Restoration
Historic forests were often vastly different from today’s highly modified stands. There is a growing awareness of the threat of invasive species and the value of rare plant communities. The evolving science of ecosystem restoration presents new opportunities to protect and improve important habitats. Forest Restoration Projects
Highly Sensitive Sites
When aesthetics and special sites require an even lighter touch, we can conduct small-scale, low-impact logging projects. We offer limited custom harvesting using hand falling and a small cable cat to do small high-precision projects unfeasible for contract loggers. Highly Sensitive Sites
