Trout Mountain Forestry
Trout Mountain Forestry has been certified according to the rules of the internationally recognized Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). FSC certification ensures that forests are managed for a balance of social, economic, and ecological objectives. The FSC standard is the most rigorous set of environmental performance measures in widespread use around the world today.

Group Certification
Trout Mountain Forestry’s Group Certification Program allows landowners to economically gain access to FSC certification and certified forest product markets. Most long-term Trout Mountain clients are eligible to participate as members of our FSC Resource Manager Group. For other owners who wish to participate as associate members we provide management plan review and timber sale monitoring to assure that FSC standards are met. FSC Log Marketing Project

Logs marked and tagged to track chain of custody.
Wood products originating on Trout Mountain Forestry’s client lands can be marketed using the FSC logo to meet the growing demand for "green" building materials. Though demand for green certified lumber is increasing, certified log markets have been slow to develop.

Begun in early 2007 as a pilot project led by Trout Mountain Forestry and Portland lumber veteran Scott Zimmerman, logs from both client and associate associate landowners are custom milled by a family owned sawmill and delivered to local builders and lumber yards under the FSC label. Since 2007 over 2 million board feet of logs have been milled under this "custom cut" arrangement by Hambleton Lumber of Washougal, WA. Beginning in 2009 we added Swanson Brothers Lumber in Noti, OR (west of Eugene) as a custom cut partner to allow landowners throughout northwest Oregon to access the FSC market.
