Community Forests
At the Beazell Memorial Forest outside Philomath, we led a team of resource professionals in a multi-resource assessment and development plan for a new 586-acre Benton County Parks site. Sustainable forestry, recreation trails, and forever-wild habitats are integrated throughout the property, and actively interpreted at a new environmental education center. Our operations included road planning and layout, right-of-way negotiations, landing and skid trail designation, tree marking, bid solicitation, harvest supervision, and log marketing and reporting. We designed and developed a new 4-mile road network to avoid sensitive sites and integrate with recreational trails. Net timber proceeds of more than $500,000 funded park infrastructure development. Future harvests will help fund environmental education programs for area school groups.
